…So how can YOU be in Aashi Guest List?! It’s actually really easy! No need to write your names anywhere or register formally in anything. You just need to say “Aashi Guest List” at the door of aforementioned clubs and then the world is your oyster! Simply add Aashi on Whatsapp at 677 211 048 or (on FB) like Barcelona Nights, Aashi Guest List, and add Aashi as a friend here. For more information and actual past reviews click here!
After having lived here for about a year and a half, I have learned from my mistakes, learned from the locals, and learned that if it seems too good to be true, it is exactly that. My hope is that these tips will help make your time in Barcelona more affordable, less stressful, and overall a richer experience.
Price Generalizations…
Generally speaking, here are what I have found to be the cheapest in their respective fields:
Night life hook-up: Aashi Guest List …Saying those 3 words translates into free entrance to over a dozen of the best clubs all over the city.
Alcoholic beverage at bars: “una caña” (tap beer) and/or glass of house wine
Caffeinated beverage at cafes: “un café solo” (shot of espresso)
Mode of transportation: *looks at ground* your feet! BCN is a very walk-able city!
Cell Phone Carrier: Yoigo… Students interested in having a Spanish mobile only for calls and normal texts will get the best bang for your buck doing a pay-as-you-go plan with “la tarifa del cinco” via Yoigo
Stores for random crap: “los chinos” aka stores normally with signage reading “Bazars” of sorts, almost universally ran by Chinese immigrants.
Grocery stores: Mercadona’s the cheapest overall, but there is also Al Campo, which is more like a Sam’s or Costco. These two are a better value than say Sorli, Bon Preu, Suma, and sometimes Dia.
Clothing store: Primark. An Old Navy – Kohl’s – Payless hybrid.
Metro tickets: If you’re going to be here for 3 months or more and you use the metro and/or buses multiple times daily, the option with the best value is to bite the bullet and purchase a “T-Jove” ticket (90 days, unlimited trips, 105 euros).
Hair salon: Peluqueria del Café – it’s a small shop on Marina Street.
Other Tips…
Don’t tip. Unless you are in awe of the amazing service or just really want to, you don’t need to tip taxi drivers, bartenders, servers, hairstylists, etc. The most common tipping practice is if you do want to tip, leave the change in coins y ya esta.
Bags and bread are not included. Bring reusable bags to groceries because they’re not included and you will have to pay for them, same for bread at restaurants. Nothing is complimentary.
If you’re looking for gel manicures or reliable waxing, go to French Kiss on Port d’ Angel in the city center. A shiny, friendly salon, French Kiss does a great bikini wax for under 20 euros.
Get a library card. Things the many, many public BCN libraries offer: free Wi-Fi, bathrooms, quiet study rooms, DVDs, wide selection of books in English, and obviously plenty of Spanish and Catalan finds as well. Free intercambios at Lesseps.
Check to see when/ if museums are free before going; Picasso Museum, for example is free on Thursdays 7pm -9:30pm, and if you’re a college student with identification it’s always free.
100 Montaditos is a fun, tapas chain that caters to groups and those looking to get a lot for their euro. On Sundays and Wednesdays, almost everything on the menu is 1 euro! Great place to watch games and enjoy free Wi-Fi.
Welcome to Barcelona incoming study abroad students for the spring semester 2015! We are amped to have you in our city for if only for a few months. In short, we hope that Aashi Guest List will become your go-to for any and all clubbing, partying, pre-gaming, Uber, and general touristic needs while studying in this amazing city.
Make sure to be on the look out for the official welcome dinner and parties at Shoko and Opium Barcelona in early January…
Intro to Barcelona: BCN is the capital of Catalonia, one of the autonomous regions of Spain. Surrounded by mountains, beach, and filled with millions of people from all over the world, Barcelona offers study abroad students the unique opportunity to experience Catalan/ Spanish/ European culture and have an awesome time while doing so.
SPRING 2015 TOP 10:
1. Getting from airport to home… There are three main options to get from the El Prat airport to wherever you will be staying in BCN: Taxi (via Uber), Aerobus, and normal public transport (via bus, metro, and/or train). We recommend using Uber to get a taxi, the easiest, most stress-free way to get where you’re going, quickly. Make sure to use the AASHILIST promotional code so you’ll get two rides up to 15 euros for FREE!
2. Participate in a Aashi Guest List hosted free, walking tour –> More info forthcoming on this upcoming opportunity! We are looking forward to hosting complimentary guided walking tours of some of the cities most popular, interesting areas, led by a local guide with insider info!
3. Take a live-guided tour of Gaudi’s Sagrada Familia. Main thing here: buy your tickets in advance and online, that way you won’t have to wait hours in line outside. Plus, the tour with the live guide is way more engaging and worth your money!
4. Also see / tour Gaudi’s Park Guell, La Pedrera, & Casa Batllo… Insider tip: enter Park Guell from one of the two lateral side entrances and avoid paying the recently implemented entrance fee at the front gate; you still get to see the large majority of things!
5. Check out las Ramblas / La Boqueria / El Gotico… Las Ramblas is a must, though it is overrated and literally always packed with tons of tourists. La Boqueria is like the best farmer’s market you’ve ever seen; try to get there early when all the stands are still open. The Gothic quarter is full of tiny, back streets with many hidden gems of establishments.
6. Get tickets to a FCB home match at Camp Nou
7. Check out El Borne/ Arc de Triomf / Ciutadella Park –> The Born neighborhood is home to the worthwhile Picasso museum (get in free showing student card), so many cute shops, and innumerable bars and restaurants with character. Stop by BCN’s Arc de Triomf and walk down to Ciutadella Park and have a relaxing picnic w/ friends!
8. Be a beach bum / become a regular at beach clubs! Check out all of Barcelona’s beaches from Barceloneta to Mar Bella (nude beach). Great for beach volleyball, boardwalk runs, and grabbing a bite to eat at a chiringuito. And of course, hit up the beach clubs often (Opium, Shoko, CDLC, Pacha, Catwalk, Eclipse), always using Aashi List to get in free and often have access to VIP table service!
9. Eat tapas. Drink cava. Anywhere you can and as often as possible. Carpe diem folks. Carrer de Blai near Parallel is lined with cheap, delicious tapas spots. Yum.
10. Take advantage of Aashi Guest List from day 1! Offering free access at at least a handful of premiere nightclubs nightly, Aashi Guest List is the best resource for all of your nightlife dreams! Weekly pre-games at Le Cyrano (w/ discounts), Uber discounts, free dinners, VIP service, complimentary drinks… you name it, we got it! Welcome to Barcelona 🙂
One of the huge advantages of using Aashi Guest List, aside from the obvious free entrance, is the fact that you have the opportunity to party for free any given night of the week, any given time of the year. That’s right, Aashi promotes at a wide variety of the best clubs in Barcelona 7 nights a week, throughout the entire calendar year. That being said, each night of the week the nightclubs host a different theme party, type of music, resident DJ, complimentary dinners, and/ or giveaways.
For example, given that today is Wednesday, Aashi List offers free entrance at the following nightclubs:
Tonight the Highly Recommended option is Shoko’s Mexican Dinner & Project X Party feat. DJ Papis! As the title suggests the first hundred or so Aashi List users to sign up will get treated to a complimentary Mexican dinner at Shoko (nachos, mini tortilla, mini bikini, and more + Open Bar of wine, champagne, and water). Per the usual, dinner will last from 10:30pm to 11:55pm.
Then it’s party time – Special drink offers including 2 euro drinks from 12am to 1am at the allocated bar. By saying you’re with Aashi Guest List at the entrance, you’ll be given a stamp to receive the discount. Plus, Free shots for first 100 Aashi List guests. And of course, bottles of champagne and vodka for groups & birthday celebrations at Aashi’s VIP table. Prepare yourself to groove to the musical stylings of DJ Papis all night long!
Simply check the Aashi Guest List Facebook page to find out what each night holds in store for you! Weekly highlights include, but are not limited to:
Monday – Pacha’s Twerk It Mondays, Shoko’s Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Opium’s Hello Mondays

Wednesday – Shoko’s Project X Party (and theme parties like Key & Lock, Highlighter, Mexican, etc.), Opium’s Dream Night Party

Top 10 (Things to Do in Barcelona): October Edition
Start using Uber
Uber has arrived in Barcelona! Download the application on your iPhone or android, make a new account, and then make sure you plug in the promo code: AASHILIST to cash in on two free taxi rides (each for 15 euros or less)
Corre Barri
If you’re new to the area and looking for runs, look no further! The 3rd annual Corre Barri will take place on Sunday, October 12th along Barcelona’s scenic beaches. This is a fun 10km race amongst the main 10 barris (“neighborhoods” in Catalan) of Barcelona, where each barri wears a different color/ designed shirt. For more info, check the FB page; signup ends on the 7th!
Fiesta Nacional de España
Coincidentally enough, the 12th of October also happens to be Spain’s national holiday, which is celebrated throughout the country…
Aside from Gaudi, Barcelona is arguably best known for its Catalan heritage and populous city beaches. Nestled on these often crowded beaches rest the famous beach clubs of Barcelona – most notably Opium Mar, Shoko, Pacha, CDLC, and Catwalk. Keep reading to find out more about each club and what they have to offer to your nightlife experience in Barcelona!
Opium Mar – Famed for the sexy patrons and high-profile DJs, Opium Mar (or just Opium) attracts an internationally attractive crowd of house music lovers nightly. Here you’ll find students from all over Europe & the US, the best commercial house music remixed by the best DJs in Barcelona, including Frank Caro. Dress to impress and enjoy the party at a VIP table with bottle service and sparklers via Aashi Guest List.
a lil Kaskade action 🙂
Shoko – Right next door to Opium Mar sits Shoko, an asian-fusion inspired discoteca that is packed nightly. Dress code here is also dress to impress, with collared shirts and dress shoes required for guys. Playing a wider range of music than Opium, Shoko offers party-goers anything from rock classics to Top 40 jams to EDM to Hip Hop. Like all the beach clubs listed here, Shoko hosts nightly parties from Project X to Kiss Kiss Bang Bang and you can always count on free entrance and a good time here through Aashi Guest List.
Pacha – Pacha Barcelona resides in what once was Sotavento, also right next to Shoko on the beach. Just this summer, Pacha has made its grand return to BCN and with Aashi Guest List you can experience the madness for free every night of the week! Featuring hot guest DJs like the Duo Diamonds, Pacha plays a variety of music from authentic hip hop, to commercial hits, to open format.
CDLC – aka Carpe Diem Restaurant Club, CDLC can also be found along side of Opium Mar, and is aptly described as glamorous, eclectic, and cosmopolitan in nature. Proud to be an official sponsor of Dom Perignon, CDLC has been awarded as one of the Finest Clubs in the world. The crowd here is more…posh persay than the other beach clubs; don’t miss their VIP lounge area available via Aashi.
Catwalk – Catwalk is the best spot on the beach for commercial hip hop, RnB, and old school (high school dance-esque) jams. Located in between the Hotel Arts and Pacha, Catwalk is most packed on the weekend when crowds flock for hip hop night! They also have fun live performances and shows with tickets through Aashi Guest List.
All of these clubs are more busy in the summer so make sure to get there by around 12:30 to avoid long lines. Always FREE entrance with Aashi Guest List but you have to arrive by the designated time! Bring your state ID cards with you. To reach any of these clubs by metro, you get on L4 and get off at the Ciutadella Vila Olimpica stop. About a 5 minute walk from there towards the beach! Enjoy!
Here is a (hopefully) helpful list of some simple do’s and don’ts when clubbing in Barcelona:
Do’s…
Dress up
This is not your hometown college haunt, the majority of the people surrounding you will be dressed to the nine so follow suit and dress to impress
Pre-game
Unless you enjoy paying through the roof for drinks at the actual clubs, I suggest you drink (if you want to) ahead of time… either on the beach or in a park or plaza (haciendo el botellón) like a local, or in a bar or at home!
Know the Barcelona metro system
It’s helpful to know that the metro is open till 2am on Friday nights and is open 24 hours Saturdays! Otherwise the metro is open 5am to midnight. Also very helpful to know the various lines and stops. Nit buses are life savers sometimes!
Bring personal ID
If you’re from the states, simply carrying your state driver’s license is usually plenty.
Use Aashi Guest List
Rain or shine, no matter the season, using Aashi Guest List allows you to avoid paying cover fees at the best Clubs in the city. You don’t need to sign up online or anything, just say the magic words at the door and boom you’re in like gin. Aashi Guest List is also great for VIP nights, birthday celebrations, free dinners, and holiday parties!
It’s just not advisable to wear 6-inch stilettos when you could be traversing cobblestone roads or very slick stairs. Dancing till the wee hours is a marathon not a sprint.
Try to enter after 2 a.m.
This is especially important in the summer months, as Barcelona becomes even more packed with study abroad students and tourists alike. You might as well take advantage of using Aashi Guest List, which usually ends by 1:30 or 2:00, depending on the club or day of the week. Long lines will have formed by 1am (or earlier on weekend nights), so don’t make this rookie mistake!
Expect toilet paper
Early on in the night sure it is easy to find a stall with a full roll still. That being said, as the night rages on, trust me you will be grateful you packed that pack of tissues in your clutch.
Get too drunk
Pretty self-explanatory here. Plus it’s just really embarrassing to be that really drunk American. You’re better than that!
Bring passport
There’s really no need to bring your actual passport. If anything, just bring a photo copied version and you’ll be golden.
